Josh was this for real? It almost seems so bad it has to be a fabrication?

  3. 3 John Dye Dec 16th, 2009 at 12:02 am

    Josh:

So I guess you decided not to hire me then, eh?

    :-)

Absolutely hilarious! My sympathies Bob. I am sure Joshua did not mean anything personal by posting your email LOL. The biggest laugh I’ve had today!

Hmm…I just now noticed that multiple authors are claiming to have written that email. LOL.

    Too funny.

No way can that be real. It has to be a prank. Maybe someone who thinks SEO is a big joke decided to so how you’d respond?

  7. 7 Joshua Steimle Dec 22nd, 2009 at 3:45 pm

I’m pretty sure it’s real. I think it’s just some 17-year-old kid from Indonesia (based on his name, which I removed) or the Phillipines or something, and that’s just his best attempt at English based on his use of it while texting.

my head hurts from reading/dicephering that.

Is this for real? Although I don’t suppose that person is from PH since I have had some work with them and they are good in communicating in English. :) This kind of language is good only in SMS! Or maybe he emailed you via mobile email? Haha!

It’s so sad that such non serious SEOs are part of the industry. Lack of indepth knowledge as one has just started out is one thing, but to know how crucial SEO business actually is and then treat it so off-handishly is sad.

The intension was serious and the content was good (the letter) but I don’t understand why can’t you make it formal? When I’m reading it I feel like I’m reading a cell phone text message that you’re running out of characters.
Please do guys be serious, don’t make fun on your offering and proposals.

Doesn’t stack up, you cant be serious

Although you’ve confirmed it was probably some kid in Indonesia, I wouldn’t put it past some kid in the US either with they way they type/spell nowadays. He said he had 4 years experience with an seo firm, that’s a bit scary. Hope he wasn’t involved with content!

Yikes! Apparently someone was in a bit of a hurry!?!?

I get email like that every day, but not nearly as mangled as that! Must have been sent from a phone that doesn’t have a qwerty keyboard or a sober user.
The other common email I get is the one that promises to get my site to rank as #1 on Google because they have completed a thorough analysis of my site and I am not ranking as highly as I should. During their analysis, did they not notice that one of my main services is SEO?

I’m a high school English teacher (in the U.S.) and I’m sorry to say, this doesn’t surprise me at all. The author could be from my freshman class.

LOL!! Maybe this is a glimpse into our future where the teenagers today text everything and us old timers will need to learn textlish.

Do you have his ph# an address I was thinking about outsourcing, wait a minute, “outsourcing” I just wasn’t thinking that far OUT. I just want to target locally and globally not universally.

Sounds like the guy is from Europe. Just needs work on his english skills.

Isn’t SEO about standing out ? Don’t any of you guys get that “standing out” might have been the writers intention ? And since the letter was published on this site, it looks to me he didn’t do such a bad job.

  24. 24 Arage Nov 27th, 2011 at 1:47 am

Regarding Joshua Steimle racist post, I know the words used ” u people”, is a dirty down south expression. The verbage is mainly text language, as u cant c.(sarcasm)
Kids from the Philipines are taught proper english from the get go of education. The youth everywhere in the world, known as ” want it now generation” are just lazy writers now that texting is another form of communication, like ebonics. rite yyyyalllll

I thinks they are very active and serious about their work. I have seen many freelancers are generative extra-ordinary & satisfactory results at very competitive prize. Their skills can be utilize for low cost companies and also as a backup service for large industries.

  26. 26 PINAY Feb 1st, 2012 at 3:56 pm

wow, a totally racist comment there from the author. Just sad to know how low you look at people you dont really know.

  27. 27 Joshua Steimle Feb 1st, 2012 at 4:00 pm

@pinay, where has anyone on this post said anything racist? Stereotyping, perhaps, but racism and stereotyping are two different things.

  28. 28 ρινοπλαστικη Feb 3rd, 2012 at 3:50 pm

ha-ha, the effects of SMS grammatology. You should probably tell him/her that the ability to write grammatically correct sentences with correct spelling is usually a prerequisite for any SEO job.
